Support the vital renovations to the priory and church of Newry Dominican

Phase 1 - Roof

The first phase in the extensive renovations is the replacement and repair of the roof, especially that of the priory.

The church and priory are 150 years old – which happens to be the lifespan of the Bangor Blue Slates on the roof. It is now vitally important that these slates are removed and replaced with like-for-like. The deterioration of the roof in recent years means the aging Dominican community are living in damp conditions with regular and constant leaks through ceilings and down walls.

Phase 1 focuses on these slates, the joists that support them and all the ancillary roof works (such as flashing, chimney stacks, etc.). The cost of this first phase is expected to be £200,000 and it is hoped to be completed in early Autumn 2021.
